SOUNDS

Equinox

Lost Without Your Touch - (Color Of The Time) Equinox's own special brand of progressive rock. Many time signature changes, as well as style changes, but it's still presented in a very fluent and inviting way.

The Way Things Are - (Color Of The Time) Lead track off of Color Of The Time. "Commercial Prog in 7". We had a lot of fun writing this particular song.

Foolish Lies - (Color Of The Time) Equinox-flavored rock. This single hit several foreign charts, and helped propel the album to it's gold and platinum statuses in several countries.

Enter My Mind - (Never released) Demo from Crowley Studios, 1991. Originally intended to be included on Color Of The Time, but we had other plans for this song. (Still do - hint, hint ;-). This was recorded live in one take - with bass guitar overdubbed by Lonnie after the fact. The sound quality is terrible at best, but it remains my favorite song to this day (even with all of it's imperfections). There's so much emotion going into what Lonnie, Jamison, and myself were playing. Lonnie plays two of the most moving guitar solos I've ever heard, and Jayme's voice and keyboards are just masterful. We never played this song the same way twice, as it's intended to be a true improvisation, and we only performed it live twice that I can recall. I just can't wait until we have a better recording of this tune someday!

Believe - (Color Of The Time) This beautiful ballad rose to the Top 20 of many overseas singles charts. I've received video tapes from fans that show themselves dancing to this song as a couple for the first time at their wedding receptions.

Equinox Opus

Stone In Love - (Journey Tribute) Back in March 2002, I was asked by a Brazilian label, Frontline Rock, if I'd be interested in submitting a track for an upcoming Journey Tribute album they were to be releasing world-wide. It was to include submissions from the genre's top artists. I said I'd love to record a version of Stone In Love, and they agreed to let me.

Since I wasn't yet back working with the other original members of Equinox, I immediately called a former colleague and keyboard player that I had been working with in Equinox Opus (the post-Equinox lineup). Together we discussed creating a side project for this track, and we bounced around several names that he is acquainted with including our friend, vocalist Joe Booe (7-Months), and long-time friend, guitarist Ty Longley, who's life ended tragically last year while he was playing on stage with Great White and that horrible fire ensued. There were several other 'heavy weights' in the industry that we approached, that were interested, but because of one reason or another, we just couldn't coordinate with everyone's schedule.

We ended up asking the other members of Equinox Opus, and they all wanted to be part of this one-off project. So pre-production was done in Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Denver in July 2002. The tracks were all recorded and mixed in one week.

We submitted this song to Frontline Rock in the middle of July 2002, and they still have not released the Journey Tribute album.

I stopped working with those players a few months later, so this song represents my last recording with that lineup. They changed their name shortly after, and will be releasing material sometime in the future. They approached Frontline Rock with the fact that I had left, and that the song should be documented as being performed by their new group, so if and when this tribute album ever sees the light of day, look for 'their' submission.

Torok

The Binge & Purge recordings were done with the intent of capturing a very primal, organic, live feel and sound. Although recorded at various studios, the goal was to create the atmosphere of being at a Torok show. As such, no click tracks were used, only four microphones were used to capture the full drumset sounds, and the guitars have that 'old school' 70's sound associated with them. I'd say we certainly accomplished our goals with these recordings.

Useless War - (Binge & Purge) All out hard rock tune. This one has some fun drum fills in the middle of it ;-)

Cry For Dawn - (Binge & Purge) Hard rock, with some progressive hints thrown in. Most notably, the 5/4 measures.
