August 2010

Eric Althaus flipping drum sticksHope everyone has been having a terrific summer! Between performing, recording, and rehearsing, I've managed to spend some quality time at the beach. Typically I'll end up out there for a few hours a day 3 or 4 days each week. I try to get out there during the early afternoon while most folks are at work. Its nice to soak up the sun without too many distractions going on all around.

Eric Althaus Live DVD Shoot - 2009Joy Ride has undergone some recent changes. We have a new vocalist (Tammy D.), new guitarist (Drew Obar), and new keyboardist (John Schmid). Yep, 60% of the lineup has changed! If you'll be in the Minneapolis area, be sure to come check out a show!

Its coming up on THAT time of year again - I have some recording work scheduled staring in September. The usual suspects, in terms of some jingle work, etc. One of the actual albums I'll be recording is something I've never really had the opportunity to record before - an all-out heavy metal record. I've always wanted to display some of my double bass metal chops, but the option has eluded me until now. Now I'll be able to at least add "heavy metal" to the list of genres I've recorded tracks for. It will be fun AND challenging, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

I hope you have a spectacular summer, and I hope to see you at a show real soon!
